Penti HosieryPenti is one of Turkey’s biggest pantyhose and hosiery manufacturers. The brand is well known throughout Europe (especially in Eastern Europe, but in countries like Italy too) and the Middle East. The company behind the Penti brand was founded in 1950 in Istanbul. Originally, there were two separate corporate entities behind the business: Naylon Hosiery and Bilka. The two entities were merged in 1970, giving birth to the Ogretmen Hosiery company. At this time, the business was a small, family owned one, but in 1971, once production was moved to Bayrampasa/Istanbul, a massive growth-cycle began.
1984 marked a turning point in the history of the company and the brand. The second generation of the family took over the business, and the Penti brand was introduced to replace the old Ogretmen one. The change marked the beginning of a new era marketing-wise. Technological innovation made it possible for the company to create the Penti Super, the first ultra fine nylon pantyhose marketed in Turkey.
1986 marked another major milestone in the history of the brand: the first exports were completed then, turning Penti into an internationally renowned hosiery brand.
1991 saw further technological improvements. It was then that the company first began using lycra fiber, which led to the creation of the Fit 15. Microfiber technology was incorporated into the Penti hosiery range as well.
The need for continued technological improvement led to the moving of production facilities to Corlu in 1994. In 1995, Penti began making shape-wear and in 1995, the first Penti specialty shop was opened in Istanbul.
By 2002, the product range of the company had diversified quite a bit. Fishnets came into the picture that year, followed by the addition of beachwear and lingerie in 2003.
In 2004, the intricately patterned pantyhose that Penti is nowadays renowned for first hit the shelves.
The company has earned several rewards and distinctions for excellence in the field of hosiery manufacturing and several Turkish celebrities began showcasing and promoting Penti hosiery.
The company has also sponsored early cancer diagnosis and anti-domestic battery campaigns, earning further distinctions.
In 2007, the first Penti online shop was launched.
In 2011, the company was re-named Penti Corap Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S.
